7 Facts about Men from Poland

The Italians are said to be irritable, the Spaniards romantic, and the Americans overly optimistic. Here is a list of some of the most common characteristics associated with Poles, particularly Polish men.

1. Hard-working

Poles are consistently ranked as one of Europe's hardest workers, but this extends beyond the workplace. Polish men are generally thought to be fixer-uppers, so if you're dating one, go ahead and ask him to fix that leaking sink - he'll love it, and you'll get bonus points for boosting his ego.

2. Chivalrous

In Poland, a man in his prime will always let a woman through first and hold the door open for her, even in formal or business situations. When greeting you, some older gentlemen may even place a kiss on your hand. Poles are quite traditional in this regard, and this is not a stereotype.

3. Political

People in Poland have strong political opinions, and while they may not express them at first, they may want to confront them at some point. Instead of taking sides for the sake of a good debate, ask interesting questions - they will gladly explain Polish politics to a complete novice.

4. Traditional

If you fall madly in love with a Polish guy, be prepared to meet his parents. Poles are very traditional at heart, and when in a serious relationship, they may seek family approval subconsciously. The main advantage is that you will be able to sample delicious Polish cuisine while meeting his family. What happens next? He may propose to you sooner than men in your country.

5. Football-fans

Despite the fact that the Polish national team does not always perform well (its highest ever position in the FIFA World Ranking is 15th), Poles enjoy football as much as any other European nation. They can adjust their schedules to accommodate important games, so if you want to surprise your Polish boyfriend with a romantic date night, make sure he hasn't already reserved a table at his favourite pub to watch the game.

6. Serious

Particularly on the outside. Depending on your country of origin, you may be accustomed to a different type of social interaction. Poles, particularly Polish men, do not smile at strangers on the street. They appear stiff at first, but as you get to know them better, they reveal themselves to be quite goofy. It takes time, but it is clearly worthwhile!

7. Homebodies

Although you can meet Poles all over the world, the country is mostly made up of homebodies. They prefer not to leave their house for extended periods of time and, on occasion, prefer to stay in rather than go out. This is why more foreigners are needed in Poland!
