How Do You Transition From Web Design to Web Development in Poland?

One of the most natural and smooth career transitions a person can make is from web design to web development. Moving into web development careers, without oversimplification, boils down to learning to code.

Here are some of our tips for making the transition:

1. Leverage your transferable skills

Because you've been working on the front-end of websites as a Web Designer in Poland, you probably already have the majority of the skills required to be a Front-End Developer. Assuming you used code to create those pages, your existing portfolio can be modified to be useful in your career as a Web Developer in Poland.

2. Learn web development fundamentals

There are numerous routes you can take if you want to become a PHP Developer, otherwise known as a Web Developer. A degree is not required to work as a Web Developer, and there is no specific college or university degree for a career in web development. There are numerous online courses and other free resources available to help you begin to develop the skills required to become a Web Developer.

Many Web Developers received their training at coding bootcamps. According to research, 23,000 students graduated from a coding bootcamp in 2019 and it appeared to be worthwhile.

3. Learn a variety of programming languages

This is most likely the most significant barrier between you and becoming a Web Developer or Software Developer in Warsaw. You should learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Python, and jQuery if you haven't already. Aside from programming languages and libraries, every Web Developer should be familiar with commonly used tools such as Git or other version control software. Version control is a technique for keeping track of different versions of code so that you can access or restore it at any time.

4. Choose a specialization

Web Developers are classified into three types:

Front-End Developers: They work on the "client-side" of web development, which includes any part of the site or app with which users interact. This can include the layout, design, and user interaction with a site.

Back-End Developers: They are web developers who work on the "server-side" of the web. This focuses on how a site works and can include databases, servers, networks, and hosting, among other things.

Full-Stack Developers: They understand both front-end and back-end development and work on both sides of a website.

5. Start working on projects

You're ready to start building once you've mastered several programming languages. You'll gain experience as you go, utilizing an ever-expanding set of skills. The best way to improve these skills is to simply experiment; the more you use them, the better you'll become.

6. Create a Web Developer portfolio

When applying for web development jobs, your best tool is a captivating portfolio that highlights your strongest skills. Your portfolio should contain a diverse range of only your best work. Emphasize the skills that most distinguish you - not just in the work you include in your portfolio, but also in the way the portfolio is presented. And demonstrate your procedure. Employers are interested in how you approach problems, not just the quality of your work. Don't be afraid to frame each example as a case study, describing your thought process and the problem you were attempting to solve with the project.

7. Network with Web Developers

Networking is also essential in Web Development. Look for networking events and meetups in your area. If you do pursue a formal education, keep in touch with your classmates and instructors and let them know you're looking for work. Once you begin to build a professional network of contacts, a job will undoubtedly appear on the horizon.
