The Oculus Quest 2 is one of the most advanced all-in-one VR
headsets on the market right now. It was created by Facebook Reality Labs
(formerly Oculus), the social media giant's virtual reality arm, and will be
released in October 2020. It is also known to be a less expensive alternative
to other VR headsets available today.
Not only can you use your VR headset to play games, but you
can also cast and stream with Oculus. Oculus Quest 2 VR casting is supported by
smart devices such as the Roku TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.
But how do you send content from your Oculus Quest 2 VR
headset to your Roku TV? This guide will teach you everything you need to know.
If you want to cast your Oculus Quest 2 VR headset to a Roku
TV, you'll need a stable Wi-Fi connection near both devices. Additionally,
ensure that your Roku TV is up to date and that the Chromecast app is
installed. You can also connect your Chromecast device to the Roku TV via the
HDMI port.
Do you lack a Chromecast? No problem - just follow our
instructions for casting Oculus Quest 2 to a TV without a Chromecast.
When you have everything ready, the first thing you should
do is turn on your Roku TV and Oculus Quest 2, so they can connect to your
Wi-Fi. Make sure to download the Oculus app on your smartphone and then proceed
as follows:
Important: To ensure that this works smoothly, connect both
of your devices to the same wireless network.
1. Open the Oculus app on your phone and tap the Cast icon
(headset with Wi-Fi waves) in the top-right corner of the screen.
2. Give the app any permissions it requests.
3. Your VR headset can be found on the Cast From list. It
will also list any VR headsets in the vicinity. To connect, select the device
name of your VR headset.
4. Switch on your Roku TV and navigate to Cast To on your
phone.
5. Select your Roku TV to try to connect both devices.
"Connected" should appear below the name of your Oculus VR headset.
6. To accept the in-VR prompt, tap Start at the bottom of
the screen and properly wear your headset. After you've been accepted, you can
finally start casting.
But what if your Roku TV or other smart TV isn't compatible
with Chromecast? You can use your Android smartphone as a source, with the
content mirrored to your Roku TV. This is how you do it:
1. Switch on your Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.
2. On your Android phone, open the Oculus app and select
Sharing.
3. Select Cast to begin casting on your smartphone.
4. Next, go to Settings > Smart View to begin a screen
mirroring connection from your phone to your Roku TV.
5. From the list of nearby devices, select the Roku TV.
6. To confirm the connection, use your Roku remote to select
Allow.
You can now cast content from your Android phone to your
Oculus VR headset and mirror it to your Roku TV. Although this method is more
time-consuming than the other, you can use it if your Roku TV does not support
Chromecast or does not work properly with it. You can get TikTok on your Roku
using the same method.
It is possible to connect your VR headset to your laptop and
then to your Roku TV. In that case, read our guide to changing the input on
your Roku TV.
Casting various content with your Oculus Quest 2 is an immersive experience, especially for VR enthusiasts. By connecting your Oculus VR headset and Roku TV to the same wireless network, you can view VR content with real-world graphics. Chromecast and its devices must also be compatible with your Roku TV.
As a result, hopefully this guide will show you how to connect Oculus to Roku and cast content. If your Roku TV does not support Chromecast, you can cast and mirror content to your Roku TV using your Android phone”just make sure your phone is compatible with both devices.
